KELLY LYNAGH l Producer/Director
OK, every kid has their favourite animated show from childhood, but I suppose my love of animation was a little more than the 'rush home from school' to catch it on TV type of love. I mean, what kid tapes their shows just so they can pause it at certain points so you get to see EVERY drawing. You see?... a little obsessive.
So when I found out there was actually a degree course in animation in QLD I, of course, had to enrol. Graduating in 97 I've been in the industry ever since. BigKidz was created with 2 other animation nerds in 2000, and we've been endeavouring to be involved in and create narrative and visually creative short films and series ever since.
I started out holding a pencil (yes one that doesn't end in a cursor on a monitor somewhere), but over the years I think I've gravitated toward the production side of things. There's nothing better than seeing a spreadsheet and budget that you know will mean everyone has lots of time to produce something great! I hate being scared as a practical joke, and I also sound different on the phone than when you speak to me in person. I like the smell of cut grass, and I'm tall.
ANN-MARIE DENHAM l Director
Ann-Marie spends too much time on things that don't matter, and paying money into the swear jar. She has blocked out most of what went on at college, and can't remember what happened yesterday.
Animation is fun…she thinks.
JC REYES l Director
JC has been in the animation industry since 1996. He escaped the Griffith Uni QCA bachelor's degree course and jumped straight into a job animating loops for the internet. He then moved to Melbourne in 1997 where he's been involved in many series productions like Lil Elvis and the Truckstoppers, Silver Brumby, Ocean Girl, and Quads; moving his way up from assisting to becoming an animation supervisor training artists in-house and overseas. Now, with Bigkidz, JC aims to improve and re-invent his skills with every project he heads and to always be noticed for quality and efficiency.
JC likes to impersonate older Filipinos doing karaoke, especially "Delilah"by Tom Jones and he's also often grumpy in the morning and very excitable in the afternoon. He loves coffee!.... with soy milk.
